And when those learning opportunities are customized specifically for the business of running an RV park or campground, it’s even better. That’s why ARVC is so strongly committed to offering a robust industry-specific learning program. Here’s a preview of what’s available now and exciting changes coming down the road.

Currently, ARVC offers three certificate programs:

Outdoor Hospitality Generalist (OHG) [COMING SOON ONLINE] This is an online program designed for those who are new to the industry or who have minimal experience. We are currently working on redesigning this program to better fit your needs. Stay tuned to arvc.org for more information

The other two certificate programs are offered at the National School of RV Park and Campground Management, an intensive program designed to equip prospective and current owners and managers with the tools they need to improve or develop a thriving campground business. Topics covered include human resources, finance, marketing, operations and risk management.

The program is offered in two, four-day sessions that learners can enroll in at one or both of the school’s campuses–the Eastern Campus (held in February in Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and the Western Campus (held in July in Denver, Colo.).

The certificate programs offered at the National School include:

Outdoor Hospitality Management (OHM) This certificate program is offered during year one. It’s designed for new managers, managers with limited responsibilities or those wanting to advance their knowledge base and careers.

Outdoor Hospitality Professional (OHP) Offered during year two, this certificate program is designed for managers with full business management responsibilities, owners and those wanting to further advance their knowledge base and careers.

 

Watch for exciting changes coming to the National School!

The current format for the National School will remain in place for the July, 2019 and February, 2020 sessions. After that, the school will move to a blended learning format where participants will complete a portion of the coursework online before attending a two- to three-day workshop at their choice of the Eastern or Western Campus. The end result will be the same powerful learning and networking opportunities but with less time required for learners to be away from their parks.

Here’s one example of the power of industry-specific learning. Carmine Torella, who owns ARVC member-park The Great Divide Campground in Newton, N.J. with his wife Lisa Torella, attended the National School for the first time in February.

“I absolutely loved it,” he says. “I came home and typed up 19 pages of notes to share with my team about all the things that I thought were important or that I learned. I took away enough ideas from the National School of RV Park and Campground Management to pay for itself 20 times over.”

New! The ARVC Foundation’s Practitioner Certificate for NFPA 1194® will soon be available online!

This program is designed to provide park owners and operators with an in-depth knowledge of the current standards for RV Parks and Campgrounds. It outlines minimum safety requirements for general design, fire safety, environmental health and sanitation, and establishes uniform definitions, making it extremely valuable when working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) or making park improvements. The first four modules of this nine-module online program will be rolled out in late May. To learn more, visit arvc.org/education.
