Are you thinking of buying or building your own campground? Or are you already in the process of building one? Then you won’t want to miss ARVC’s Prospective Park Owners Workshop (POW). And now, it will be even more convenient for you to attend!

To eliminate the time and expense of travel for attendees, this information-packed workshop will now be offered in a one-day online format on Thursday, June 4. (This will replace the in-person workshop originally scheduled in May in Colorado Springs.) That means you’ll be able to tap into the knowledge of industry experts on a wide range of topics, including financing, purchasing, marketing, insurance and much more – all from the comfort of your home.

This one-day workshop will be fully-interactive to allow attendees to ask questions, share ideas, discuss topics, share screens and review documents. This will be your opportunity to learn from industry pros who have already traveled down this road.

“We will have a number of excellent presenters who are experts in the industry, including many that have personal experience building and managing parks,” says Paula Horwitz, ARVC Executive Director, Education and Events. “Attendees will leave the workshop with a strong understanding of what it actually takes to own a campground and the knowledge of how to successfully build your business.”

The workshop will also focus on the importance of building key relationships in this industry, including relationships with vendors and fellow park members. It will also cover the importance of building relationships with local agencies or “Authorities Having Jurisdiction” (AHJs), the organizations that write and enforce codes, to ensure your new park meets local requirements for water, electrical, site design and other factors. There will also be an important discussion about NFPA 1194®, the national standard that provides minimum construction requirements for the safety and health of occupants using facilities at RV parks and campgrounds and the importance these standards play in park design.

“This standard is extremely important for you as a park owner when working with your local AHJs,” says Jeff Sims, ARVC’s senior director of state relations and program advocacy.

Converting this workshop into a one-day, online event has made it possible for ARVC to reduce the cost from $499 to $299 for ARVC members and $599 for non-members, passing on the savings from meetings space rentals and food costs direct to the attendees. It’s an incredible value when you consider all the insights you’ll gain, which will help you make more informed decisions for your park.
