Grammy-Winning Musicians, American Idol Contestant to Perform Between Sessions at OHCE2020

Music makes every experience better—especially the camping experience, but also when it offers a chance to step away from the computer for a few minutes to tap your toes or dance.  

Everyone has been spending a lot of time in front of their computers throughout the COVID pandemic, so that’s why the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) is featuring live music from six highly-acclaimed musical acts throughout its virtual 2020 Outdoor Hospitality Conference & Expo (OHCE). 

ARVC teamed up with BMI again this year to feature these high-profile musical acts during the conference to give attendees a way to relax and listen to music in between education sessions. The featured musicians include Grammy-winning and –nominated artists, an American Idol finalist and artists who have collaborated with some of the music industry’s biggest names like Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Eric Church, Brooks and Dunn, Chris Stapelton, the Black Keys, Art Garfunkel and more. 

“Music is an important part of the camping experience and we always try to replicate that atmosphere at OHCE, but this year we are excited to take that to another level with an all-star lineup of performing artists that you won’t want to miss,” says Paula Horwitz, ARVC’s executive director of education and events. “Teaming up with BMI will allow our OHCE attendees to tune in for some amazing performances as they reset between these virtual sessions. Not only will it be a little break, it will be a way to refresh and recharge with some great tunes.”

“Last year our members told us they enjoyed the new content and ideas that we brought to the table, mixing past traditions with new and exciting options,” says Horwitz. “This year, with the switch to a virtual platform we found even more unique ways to connect with our attendees, and we couldn’t be happier that BMI was able to work with us to show off these talented musicians.” 

The scheduled performers during OHCE2020 are: 

Bonnie Bishop– A Grammy winning country-rock singer-songwriter from Texas with a voice like no other. Bonnie wrote “Not Cause I Wanted To” with guitarist Big Al Anderson. Bonnie Raitt recorded the song, and it won a Grammy in 2013. In addition, Bonnie is an artist in her own right with a soon to be released album The Walk, which was released October 4.  

Clint Daniels– A 2020 Grammy nominee for Best Country Song, “Some Of It” recorded by Eric Church, Clint was born and raised in the Florida panhandle, a natural tie to the Sunshine State and Daytona Beach, Fla., where OHCE2020 was originally scheduled to take place. He has written “Brokenheartsville” recorded by Joe Nichols; “Roll With Me” by Montgomery Gentry; “God Must Be Busy” by Brooks and Dunn; and  “Ready For The End of the World” by George Strait.   

Kendell Marvel– An accomplished singer–songwriter, Kendell released his debut solo album, Low Down and Lonesome, which was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys in October 2017. In addition, he has written “Right Where I Need To Be”, which was recorded by Gary Allen; “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” by Jake Owen; “Either Way” by Chris Stapleton; and “Comin Around” by Josh Thompson.   

Paul McDonald- McDonald is an American singer-songwriter originally from Huntsville, Ala., but who now resides in Nashville, Tenn. Paul placed eighth in the 10th season of “American Idol” and was the lead singer of the band Hightide Blues and later the band The Grand Magnolias. Paul is an excellent singer and performer and will no doubt have attendees moving along with his show. You can’t stay seated when Paul performs. 

Maia Sharp– An American country and pop singer songwriter, Maia wrote “A Home”, which was recorded by The Chicks; “Walk With You” by Edwin McCain; “All The Way” by Keb Mo; “Long Way Home” and “The Thread” by Art Garfunkel; and “No Fairy Tale” by Lisa Loeb.  

James Slater – A two–time, Grammy–nominated, piano-playing, bilingual singer-songwriter, Slater’s Grammy nominations include Jamey Johnson’s “The High Cost of Living“, named Country Song of the Year in 2017; and Martina McBride’s “In My Daughter’s Eyes.” He most recently wrote “God Whispered Your Name” for Keith Urban’s new album The Speed of Now Part 1. A prolific songwriter, James is the king of the piano keys and brings a great energy to every performance he does.

The BMI music lineup is one of many new or reimagined concepts that ARVC has created this year to make sure the magic of the in-person OHCE experience translates to the virtual platform. ARVC recently announced it will be continuing its popular Takeaway Tours in the virtual format, with longtime ARVC member and four-time ARVC Park of the Year Award winner Gary Quigley of Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest serving as host. Attendees will enjoy tours of three ARVC member-parks followed by an interactive Q+A with the park owners. OHCE2020 will be the most accessible ever, as attendees can tune in to all sessions and event via any internet capable device—including computers and all mobile devices. All sessions will be available live and will be recorded for viewing in the ARVC portal following the event, so attendees won’t have to miss a moment even if other commitments arise.
