As one of the host sites of this year’s Takeaway Tours at ARVC’s annual Outdoor Hospitality Conference and Expo (OHCE), the management and staff at Cross Creek RV Resort will offer a virtual tour of their park, highlighting how they have built one of the best parks in the country, certified as one of only six parks in Florida that has been awarded Good Sam’s Highest Rating of 10/10/10.

Located inland in Arcadia, Fla., ARVC member-park Cross Creek RV Resort doesn’t attract beach or city guests like its peer RV resorts in coastal locations nearby in Fort Myers, Fla. and Tampa BayInstead, this park has successfully attracted a large and loyal following of campers by creating its own attractions, with top-notch amenities, a lineup of exciting activities and vibrantlylandscaped modern resort.

Takeaway Tour attendees will encounter an abundance of lessons from the staff at Cross Creek along with real-life problem-solving strategies, providing new and improved best practices they can “takeaway” and use at their own parks. Cross Creek is eager to share these lessons and give a look into how it has created such a unique and high-rated park.

We are looking forward to the opportunity to showcase our park and community, which we think is a hidden gem,” says Cross Creek General Manager Ginny Weir. “We know that Arcadia is not tourist destinationbut people are drawn here because we create activities and offer amenities that lend itself to an active lifestyle and a friendly community. We are an all-age park, but cater to those 55-plus, and at some parks that focus on that age group don’t have a lot of life, but our park is full of excitement and fun for those looking for a nice outdoor park that is still cost effective.”

Cross Creek was founded in 1997 and was purchased by Summit Communities, one of the foremost owner/operators of RV and MH communities in the United States, in 2017. Weir credits much of the success of the park to the great community and staff, along with a beautifully designed park with all sites at least 38′ wide by 75′ deep—large enough to accommodate all the biggest rigs on the road today—along with exquisitelymaintained park model homes.

“We’ve been in business for a while and have worked extremely hard to create an environment that creates a friendly community, with room for a lot of expansion and opportunity to continue to improve the park,” says Weir.

Two other ARVC-member parks were selected to host along with Cross Creek are Jolly Roger RV Resort (130 sites) in Marathon, Fla. And Nature’s Resort (304 sites) in Homosassa, FlaStay tuned for more details about the remaining parks featured on the Takeaway Tours.

The Takeaway Tours are always one of the most popular experiences offered at OHCE—the outdoor hospitality industry’s premier event. With OHCE2020 going virtual, instead of traveling to parks, ARVC is bringing the parks to you and including it in the cost of registration. In past years, Takeaway Tours were an extra $299 add-on cost for attendees to visit parks for a full day, but due to the virtual nature of this year’s event ARVC is including this valuable learning experience for free for all those who register.

OHCE2020 is November 2-5, 2020 and registration is now open. ARVC members are offered significant discounts on registration, including the chance to attend for free as part of a new Hosted Buyer Program.
