OHCE Virtual Takeaway Tours Now Included in Registration, Host Sites Announced

The Takeaway Tours are always one of the most popular experiences offered at ARVC’s annual Outdoor Hospitality Conference and Expo (OHCE) —the outdoor hospitality industry’s premier event. With OHCE2020 going virtual, instead of traveling to parks, ARVC is bringing the parks to you and including it in the cost of registration.  

This year’s virtual Takeaway Tours will again provide an in-depth look at the operations and infrastructure of three amazing parks, allowing attendees to interact with the park’s owners, operators and industry-respected guides. 

The three ARVC-member parks selected to host the takeaway tours this year are Jolly Roger RV Resort (130 sites) in Marathon, Fla., Nature’s Resort (304 sites) in Homosassa, Fla., and Cross Creek RV Resort (612 sites) in Arcadia, Fla. ARVC worked with the Florida Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (Florida ARVC) to select parks in the state near Daytona Beach, Fla., which was originally scheduled to be the host city for OHCE2020. The three parks vary greatly in size, budget, amenities, resources, target market and much more, allowing attendees to find a variety of solutions and connections. 

“We are thrilled to be able to work with these three parks, keeping our focus on the area in Florida where our conference was supposed to take place,” says Paula Horwitz, ARVC’s Executive Director of Education and Events. “These park tours will offer three unique perspectives and experiences for our attendees, allowing them to see a number of different plans, ideas and solutions that they can take back to their own parks and implement.” 

In past years, Takeaway Tours were an extra $299 add-on cost for attendees to visit parks for a full day, but due to the virtual nature of this year’s event ARVC is including this valuable learning experience for free for all those who register, Horwitz says. 

The tours of the park’s will be filmed and edited before the conference, allowing the park owners to show off their park and provide insight into how they operate. OHCE attendees can view the tours on-demand beginning November 2, the first day of the conference. A live question and answer session, hosted by OHCE speaker and industry expert Gary Quigley, OHE owner of ARVC member-park Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest in Harrisville, Penn. This will allow owners to receive live answers to follow–up questions and spark deeper discussions that can be continued in small group meeting rooms or private chats throughout OHCE. 

“Attendees will encounter an abundance of lessons and real-life problem-solving strategies, providing new and improved best practices they can ‘takeaway’ and use at their own parks,” says Horwitz. “The Takeaway Tours will also be a great opportunity for the owners of the park to give advice to prospective park owners, especially providing insight about how to create the best business model and infrastructure for success.”
