(DENVER) Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) will give the welcome address at the Opening General Session of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds’ (ARVC) Outdoor Hospitality Conference and Expo (OHCE) this November.
Burchett, one of the newest members of the House RV Caucus, represents Tennessee’s 2nd District, which includes Knoxville, the host city of OHCE 2019.
The OHCE opening general session will take place on Tue., Nov. 5 and will kick off two days of education at the premier event on the industry calendar. In addition to the congressman’s welcome, the opening general session will also feature a look at the trends in the industry and the upcoming week of educational sessions, networking events and the expo.
“We are very excited to have Congressman Tim Burchett on hand to assist in welcoming our OHCE attendees to his hometown of Knoxville,” says ARVC President and CEO Paul Bambei. “This part of Eastern Tennessee features a strong campground community that provides tremendous economic and tourism value and the outdoor hospitality industry in this part of the state has a strong ally in Congressman Burchett. He understands the strength of our industry and the impact we have on the local, state and national economies. ARVC and our industry partners join in thanking him for joining the House RV Caucus and for his continued support to ensure our industry remains strong.”
Burchett met with ARVC representatives during this year’s RVs Move America Advocacy Week, hosted by ARVC’s industry partner, the RV Industry Association (RVIA). It was during that meeting Burchett agreed to become a member of the House RV caucus and to speak at OHCE 2019.
Crucial to helping Burchett join the RV caucuses was Heather Blankenship, OHP, owner of ARVC member-park Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. As a constituent of the Tennessee 2nd District and the Co-Chair of the ARVC Young Professionals, Blankenship discussed the value of the outdoor hospitality industry to Burchett’s district, state and the nation, convincing Burchett to join growing caucus.
With more than 30 members to date, the House RV caucus is a growing group of national legislators playing a vital role in championing the interests of the outdoor hospitality and RV industry at the national level.
OHCE 2019 is a four-day event from Nov. 4-7 in Knoxville and includes more than 40 educational seminars, a trade show with more than 120 vendors, tours of local campgrounds, certification workshops, ARVC’s Awards of Excellence program and more.
